A bunch of facts

With the support of the American government, the company went on to create several politically unstable countries — the 'banana republics' of Honduras and Guatemala, etc. Today, India is the biggest producer of bananas, not these small, tropical countries.

High appeel

In 2014, India’s banana output was more than double of any other country. Banana constitutes more than a third of all fruits grown in India.

Not this time Kerala

Kerala is only one of the biggest consumer states of the fruit and not a biggest producer of the crop. Three states account for more than 40% of the banana crop. They are:

Tamil Nadu: 14.2%

Gujarat: 13.8%

Andhra Pradesh: 13.4%
