'Per Drop More Crop' Should be Our Motto: PM Modi Tells Farmers During Interaction Via NaMo App

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is interacting with farmers from across the country- Karntaka, Sikkim, West Bengal and Maharashtra via video conferencing today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is interacting with farmers from across the country- Karntaka, Sikkim, West Bengal and Maharashtra via video conferencing today. The interaction will actually provide the farmers with a platform to directly speak up about their grievances and also be fruitful in discussing initiatives related to farmers’ development. PM Modi said that for the agriculture sector to boom, the motto of “per drop more crop” must be followed. At the beginning of the session, PM Modi asserted on the fact how farmers were essential for our survival and credited the agrarian community of being India’s food security.



He went on to add how technological innovation was in order to help the farmers. He said that the government has tried to remove the middlemen from the system and bring the produce directly to the consumers with the help of new technologies. Not only this Modi said how the government was trying to ensure that the income of the farmers is doubled by the year 2022. Modi spoke about how the agriculture sector had developed rapidly in the last 2 years and there has been a record production of grains, fruits, vegetables and milk in the country as of today. Adding to the developments, the government has approved a sum of over Rs 2 lakh crore in the Union Budget, he added. 

Not just agriculture, PM Modi also shed light on the blue revolution- the fisheries sector, which has seen a 26 per cent rise. Moreover, the animal husbandry sector has also seen a 24 per cent rise. 

Talking about the various initiatives taken by the government, PM Modi also spoke about how the government is focusing on the soil health card so that the farmers can know the nature of soil before they sow. This would help the farmers produce good quality food grains. PM Modi also spoke about how farm loans are being arranged so that the farmers do not go through capital issues. Apart from capital issues, he focused on water issues plaguing the agricultural sector, saying the government was working in the same direction to ensure all farms get adequate water. Under the PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, 99 irrigation projects have been completed across the country today, PM Modi added.
