A three day workshop on “Eco-Physiological techniques in crop research-2017” sponsored by Concord Scientific Devices, Chennai is being held at the Department of Crop Physiology of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).
TNAU Scientists from different parts of the state have attended the training.

Dr. C.N. Chandrasekhar, Deputy Registrar (Education) and Professor of Crop Physiology welcomed the gathering and gave an overview of the training programme.
Dr. D. Jawahar, the Special Officer, Natural Resource Management felicitated the trainees. He stressed the importance of soil, plant and environment interaction in agriculture. He requested the scientists to use instruments in abiotic stress research viz., drought, flooding and high temperature research.

Dr. C. Jayanthi, the Director of Crop Management in her felicitation address, stressed the role of crop physiology in multi-disciplinary research for yield and quality improvement of crops. She also stressed the importance of instruments to speed up research progrmmes.
Dr. M. Maheswaran, the Director of Research presided the function and delivered key note address. He highlighted the significance of instruments in eco-physiological measurements and encouraged the participants to collaborate with crop physiology. He requested the scientists to focus on crop growth under changing climate. He also stressed the importance of instruments under various stress conditions and requested the trainees to make use of this training, since; it is a best platform for scientists to update their knowledge on soil - plant - environment interaction for the betterment of scientists and farmers.
Dr. P. Boominathan, Asst. Professor, proposed vote of thanks. Heads of various Departments and scientists and students attended the function.
