Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore has been honoured with the prestigious ‘FICCI Road Safety Award’ in the category of ‘Road Safety Interventions by Educational Institutions ‘. The FICCI Road Safety Awards, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), recognize organisations that demonstrate outstanding contributions in the field of road safety.
A team of faculty and students from the Department of Civil Engineering performed Road-engineering survey as an academic partner of the Special Road Safety Task force (RSTF) initiated by the government of Tamil NÄdu. The esteemed jury selected Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College for their contribution in suggesting Road safety interventions in select hotspots of Coimbatore which is a major contributing factor to reduce road accidents.
Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College is the only Educational Institution among corporates to receive this award across India. The award ceremony was presided over by Tukuni Sahu, the Minister of Water Resources, Commerce & Transport of the Government of Odisha; Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Chair of FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians & Members of Parliament at New Delhi recently. The Managing Trustee D.Lakshminarayanaswamy of SNR Sons Charitable Trust and Dr.N.R.Alamelu, Principal of the Institution congratulated the team of Civil Engineering students and the mentor Dr.S.Hema, Associate Professor in Civil engineering.
