A workshop on “Glass to Metal Seals†and the 20th National Seminar on “The Role of Scientific Glass Blowing at Research Level-In Designing Agricultural Research level Glassware†was jointly organised by the Dept. of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry (SS&AC), DNRM, TNAU, Coimbatore and Indian Society of Scientific Glass Blowers (ISSG) during 22-23 rd July, 2023 at TNAU with 91 participants
Coimbatore: A workshop on “Glass to Metal Seals†and the 20th National Seminar on “The Role of Scientific Glass Blowing at Research Level-In Designing Agricultural Research level Glassware†was jointly organised by the Dept. of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry (SS&AC), DNRM, TNAU, Coimbatore and Indian Society of Scientific Glass Blowers (ISSG) during 22-23 rd July, 2023 at TNAU with 91 participants of which 75 were from ISSG and 21 from TNAU.
A total of 13 members competed in Glass blowing with a common theme of ‘Universal filter Pump’ from the given glass.
Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU inaugurated the National Seminar and released the Souvenir of the Workshop and National Seminar. Earlier Dr.R.Santhi, Professor & Head, Dept. of SS&AC and Organising Secretary of the Workshop and Seminar of ISSG, welcomed the gathering. N.Viswanathan, President, ISSG briefed about the Workshop and Seminar. Dr.P.Balasubramaniam, Director (DNRM), Dr.N.VenkatesaPalanichamy, Dean (Agri.), Sayyad M.Saffi, Scientist (Retd.), BARC Mumbai and A.Perumal, Sr.Scientist (Retd.), Orchid Pharma, Chennai felicitated the participants. C.Madheswaran, Sr.Technical Officer (Retd.), Rubber Research Institute, Kotayam thanked the gathering.
Two technical sessions were held with one guest lecture in each session and six technical papers were deliberated by experts from various organizations viz., BARC, Mumbai; Orchid Pharma, Chennai; Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru; Bharat Electronics Limited, Hyderabad; Karunya University, Coimbatore; Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam; Gandhigram Rural University, Dindigul and Rajaramanna Institute, Indore.
The valedictory function was held at the end of the Technical sessions. Dr. VenkatesaPalanichamy, Dean (Agri.) offered the Valedictory address and gave away three cash prizes to award winners of Glass blowing competition held on 21 st July, 2023 sponsored by various members of ISSG and Lifetime Achievement awards to ISSG members. N.Kunjithapatham, Secretary, ISSG delivered the vote of Thanks.
