TNSED hosts 'Namma School Namma Ooru Palli' conclave in Coimbatore

This one-of-its-kind initiative across the nation aims in revamping school education and developing a model school for the enhancement of quality and inclusive education.



The Tamil Nadu School Education Department's (TNSED) initiative 'Namma School Namma Ooru Palli' (NSNOP) conclave was organised in Coimbatore on Tuesday. The conclave kick-started in Coimbatore after its grand launch in Chennai.

This one-of-its-kind initiative across the nation aims in revamping school education and developing a model school for the enhancement of quality and inclusive education. The event was headed by Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, the Minister of School Education accompanied by Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Namma School Foundation along with District Education officials and administrators.



At the conclave, the Minister highlighted that the initiative began involving 12 corporates with an investment of Rs. 48 Crores, covering the needs of 5000 schools. In its journey of six months, it has witnessed incredible growth involving about 133 corporate companies with an investment of over Rs.100 crores covering about 7294 schools in the State.



"I'm glad to openly notify that this initiative has received up to Rs.13.95 crores this day with major industries contributing through their CSR activities. This new initiative will maintain transparency wherein starting from the needs to the contributed amount to its expenditure bills, all of it can be examined and commented through the portal," added Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.

'Olirum Erodu,' an NGO partnering with this initiative announced an immediate sanction of Rs. 50 lakhs for the construction of toilets across identified schools considering it as a fundamental need. Further contributions will include the betterment of infrastructure, reskilling teachers and other activities.



More than 100 participants representing various industrial sectors participated in the conclave to render their support. This included major industries like Wipro, Propel Industries, Walkaroo, Bosch, ZF Wind Power and many more.



While addressing the media regarding various educational topics, the Minister said, "The queued laptop scheme will shortly resume, which had been halted since the pandemic. Further issues regarding the mention of caste in diaries of prominent private schools will be investigated and actions will be enforced to stop any social crisis."
