Coimbatore: Department of Crop Physiology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore organized a two days International Colloquium on Crop Physiology (ICCP 2020) during November 26-27, 2020 in commemoration with “International Year of Plant Health 2020â€.

Dr. P. Jeyakumar, Professor and Head, Department of Crop Physiology, welcomed the Guests, speakers and the participants of the ICCP 2020. Dr. K.S. Subramanian, Director of Research and Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Director (Crop Management), TNAU gave the felicitation address. The ICCP 2020 was inaugurated by Dr. P. Rethinam, Former ADG (Plantation Crops), ICAR, New Delhi and the event was started with the keynote lecture by Dr. P.V. V. Prasad, Professor, Kansas State University, USA. Dr. Lakshmi Manavalan, Research Lead, Bayer, USA, Dr. Antonietta Santaniello, Plant Science Specialist, Valagro, Italy, Dr. Arun K. Shanker, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Central Research Institute of Dryland Agriculture,Hyderabad and Dr. C. Viswanathan, Principal Scientist, IARI, New Delhi delivered a lecture on the theme “Physiological Approaches to improve Plant Health under Stress Environmentsâ€. Around 900 participants, including Scientists, academicians, research scholars and students across India participated in the International event through online mode. Dr. M.K. Kalarani, Professor (Crop Physiology), proposed a vote of thanks for the event.
On the second day of the International event, interesting lectures were delivered by Dr. U.K. Reddy, Professor, West Virginia State University, USA, Prof. T.G. Prasad, National Professor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and Dr. M. Christoper, Principal Scientist, Valent Biosciences Corporation, Malaysia on the theme “Nutrio-Hormonal Interventions for Improving Plant Healthâ€. The International event was concluded with a plenary lecture by Dr. S.R. Voleti, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad followed by the valedictory address by Prof. N. Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore.
Dr. A.S. Krishnamoorthy, Registrar and Director (Crop Management) gave the felicitation address. University Officers, Heads of the Departments, Scientists, students and staff members in the main campus also attended and graced the concluding session of the International Colloquium. Dr. D. Vijayalakshmi, Associate Professor (Crop Physiology) delivered the concluding day vote of thanks.
